“You must have a little veggie patch at your place, don’t you? For the last two weeks we have been so lucky to have Kelly’s parents visiting from Vancouver Island. The 35 hour journey here was a little tough, but they rallied well to enjoy the (rainy-but-nice) weather and see some sights with us. Please look forward to some updates about our adventures shortly. In the meantime, [...]

So Kelly’s parents are here to visit us, and we are delighted to have our first visitors from home join us in our lives abroad. We are proudly showing off our Australian digs, friends, and landscapes to them. Bracken the kangaroo and Poppy the wombat (both rescued animals that are being rehabilitated to the wild) [...]

Here are my public rants for the last two weeks. I am preparing for some family visiting for the last half of November (which is a big deal when family=Canada and home=Australia!), so I imagine my online life will get pretty quiet for a while. I hope I don’t go into withdrawal, what with an [...]

Your dog just died. “She’ll be right, mate,” is the sympathetic response of your Australian friend. Climate change is upon us. The whole country, and in particular the state of Victoria has endured over a decade of drought. “She’ll be right, mate,” replies an Aussie as they seem to shrug off an evident problem. You [...]
