Passports with Purpose: Win Some Neat Prizes and Contribute to a Great Cause
By theprofessionalhobo ~ December 10th, 2008. Filed under: Australia, life at Kingbilli.
So I was recently contacted by Beth at Wanderlust and Lipstick, a fellow traveling-nomadic-writer (but one-up on me as she has a best-selling book and I don’t…yet). She alerted me to a project that she and a few dozen other travel bloggers are working on that sounds absolutely fabulous. Although I was unable to get together any raffle prizes myself, I think the idea is wonderful and worth promoting.
It is called Passports With Purpose, and is a series of raffles, the proceeds of which go towards helping Heifer International, an organization dedicated to obliterating hunger and poverty through sustainable methods and at a grassroots level. (Is “grassroots” still a cool term to use? Or is it so terribly overused such that is has lost meaning by now? I never know. I just hope I’m not one of those people who try to be cool by saying “hip” and “groovy” when it is just about the farthest thing from cool I could say without opening my mouth and directly inserting my foot – socks and all).
Anyway…
Heifer International. Right.
So here’s the deal: Visit the Passports With Purpose site, and check out all the cool (hip, groovy, insert foot) prizes offered. For every $10 you donate, you can enter into the raffle of your choice. Donate $100 and you’ll be entered in 10 of the raffles of your choice. Some of the raffles are geographically limited, and others a little wider in scope. So there’s something for everybody. I have my eye on a few of the items myself, but winner or not am happy to contribute to this innovative project. I love what the blogging world can do when we put our minds to it! Yay for the internet.
