March Roundup
By theprofessionalhobo ~ April 2nd, 2008. Filed under: links.
When ages go by and there are no new posts to this blog, it doesn’t mean I have been sitting idly by and eating bon-bons.
Well actually, sometimes it does.
As referenced once or twice before, there are a number of other sites I write for, and occasionally they take up a big chunk of my time. Sometimes there are articles I’d like to write for this blog, but I’ve already published something similar elsewhere and somehow figure that my readers magically have seen those articles too and can put the whole picture together.
So, for those of you who don’t have the magic ability to know what else I’m publishing, I’m starting a weekly (or bi-weekly) roundup of links to my other articles. This edition is a catch-up edition, and a small selection of interesting pieces from around the web:
Vagabondish
Riding high on the coattails of a recent article that is still quite popular, I kicked out about eight new articles for Vagabondish over the month of March. Here are a selected few:
5 Steps to Solid Travel: How to Beat Airport Security Every Time
You will learn about the benefits of something that seems to be a blast from the past: solid soap and shampoo. What a novel concept. Now solid shaving cream and toothpaste – that’s another matter (and yes: it does exist).
Never Underestimate the Power of Researching Your Trip
Guidebooks aren’t all bad.
How To Define Travel: Which Type of Traveler Are You?
This goes beyond the “tourist” vs “traveler” debate. We’re into the different types of people who define themselves as hardcore travelers.
Getting “Off The Beaten Path”: Just Another Traveler’s Cliché
Maybe I’m bitter. Maybe not. You decide!
Wise Bread
I’ve been writing for Wise Bread since last summer, and I’ll admit that I’m starting to run out of ideas. Any suggestions you have for articles you’d like to see on frugal living, personal finance, consumer matters, or just plain life hacks are always welcome!
Passport Pictures for Under a Dollar
No really, less than a dollar.
Why You Don’t Need Mortgage Life Insurance
(I love titles that need no explanation!)
Finding Money: 11 Ways to Save Money You Are Spending Without Sacrificing Anything
We could all learn a thing or two by adopting a few of these principles.
Credit Counseling: When you Need it and When you Don’t
Green Switch for Green Savings
Read this primer for some good info on electricity you consume and may not realize it, and how to put a stop to it. Oh yeah – and you save money too.
Extra Income Opportunity: Online Tutoring
Who doesn’t want to earn a little extra dough from the comfort of home in their slippers?
SNAP Beaches
For Torontonians with easy access to the Beaches/Danforth area, pick up an issue of this free magazine to see the print version. For everybody else, here’s March’s online version.
I’ve also written a mess of Point of Interest destination pieces for Wcities, but unless you are coming to the Big Island of Hawaii, I won’t bore you with the details of where to eat, sleep, and visit.
Thanks, and stay tuned for future (and more abbreviated) roundups!
